Ashi’s Time Paradox! Is Samurai Jack’s Story Really Over?

Spoiler Alert: This article discusses elements from Samurai
Jack’s last episode.
Author’s Note: I know Samurai Jack isn’t an Anime but it was
inspired by one so it counts.
In Episode CI we see Ashi gain control of herself and her
new powers which she uses to take Jack back with her in past to kill Aku and
undo the terrible future. Next everyone is preparing for their wedding when
Ashi faints on her way to the alter and fades from existence because since Aku
is dead she couldn’t have been born.
But as Jack stood under the cherry blossom tree with a
bittersweet smile I couldn’t help but wonder, what does Ashi’s disappearance
mean for the series?
Ashi disappears because Aku does not exist anymore and thus
she can’t be conceived. But if Ashi was never born then who sent Jack back to
the past? And so we have a time paradox. Now Ashi didn’t fade immediately after
Aku’s defeat but instead at least a few days after. This was of course done for
the purpose of story-telling to create a sense of shock and loss but from a
sci-fi viewpoint, we can assume the time paradox takes time to unravel.
This could mean that after a few more days, Jack could find
himself back in the future where Aku and Ashi are still alive. With no time
portal available and Ashi’s time powers being unfortunately useless Jack has to
defeat Aku in the future and live with Ashi and their future timeline friends.
Yet another bittersweet ending for Samurai Jack.
Now it’s also possible that Ashi fading out of existence is
the last side effect of her time travel and Jack gets to live in the past
timeline with his family and become the new emperor. There’s also this theory
about the Guardian and his Portal still being somewhere out there which if true
leaves Jack with a second option in case Ashi’s time travel unravels bringing
Jack back to the future. It’s also possible that Ashi could be born in the
future as a different person since her mother still exists.
In conclusion, Samurai Jack as a series is obviously over
but this theory leaves room for a new season.
What's gonna happen to Samurai Jack? Jack can find another girl I mean that his girlfriend ashi dead are they going to make Samurai Jack season 6?
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying they'll make a season 6, just that there might be more meaning behind the last episode than we realized.
